Our Hong Kong office was established in 1995 to meet the growing demand of our international clients wanting to undertake business in China and more widely throughout Asia. This was followed by our offices in Beijing in 2004 and in Shanghai in 2008. Our China offices operate as a collaborative integrated practice, and assists clients with their complex business activities throughout the broader China region, as well as advising Chinese state-owned and private companies on their outbound investment opportunities. In 2009 Bird & Bird opened in Singapore* significantly enhancing our capabilities in the Asia Pacific region.
In 2009 Bird & Bird also entered into an association with local Chinese law firm, Lawjay Partners. Through this association we can further assist clients in contentious IP matters in Mainland China by litigating in the Chinese Courts.
