International law firm Bird & Bird has advised TriMas on its acquisition of the aerospace business unit of Gummi-Metall-Technik GmbH (GMT). The acquisition aims to enhance TriMas’ offerings in the aerospace and defence sectors, while strengthening relationships with European defence suppliers.

TriMas Corporation is a diversified manufacturer of engineered products, headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The company operates through three segments: packaging, aerospace, and specialty products, serving various industries worldwide. TriMas Aerospace specialises in designing and manufacturing highly engineered components for commercial aircraft manufacturers and the US military. 

GMT is a leading manufacturer of anti-vibration technology components and systems, founded in 1968 in Bühl, Germany. It provides innovative, high-performance solutions for various industries, including machinery, aviation, and rail vehicles. GMT operates globally, with subsidiaries and sales offices in multiple countries.
