About Me

I specialise in resolving intellectual property disputes before the Courts in London, where I am a senior associate in our Intellectual Property practice.

I practice in all areas of intellectual property law. As a solicitor advocate, my particular focus is on bringing and defending cases in the High Court and specialist tribunals, both in the preparatory stages and during litigation, acting in a dual role of solicitor and counsel.

I work on a wide range of cases in respect of my clients' most valuable products and IP rights. Recent cases in the High Court have included: successfully defending Lidl against a wide-ranging passing off claim (Philip Warren v Lidl, 2021); achieving an injunction and damages on behalf of footwear fashion leader Rothy's (Rothy's v Giesswein, 2020); acting on behalf of international leader Rogue Fitness in respect of design and copyright infringements (Rogue Fitness/Coulter v Bulldog Gear, 2021); acting on behalf of Crossfit in respect of trade mark infringement claims; defending and resolving a highly complex trade secrets claim against a major UK vaping brand; and acting on behalf of a global media company to secure an emergency injunction in respect of a breach of confidence.

In the field of patents, I have very considerable experience of telecoms and electronics disputes, having acted for and advised several major patent holders, implementers, and patent pools in respect of technical and FRAND licensing issues. Notable past cases in the UK include Sisvel v OnePlus; Unwired Planet v Huawei; Apple v Qualcomm; Nokia v Apple; and Good Technology v Mobile Iron; as well as confidential arbitrations.

My background before law is in biomedical engineering, combining more traditional engineering disciplines (such as electronics, mechanics, materials science and computing) with medical concepts (including anatomy, drug delivery and biochemistry).

I also contribute frequently to specialist legal journals including the European Intellectual Property Review and Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice, and industry publications, writing about cutting-edge legal issues and developments.
