About Me

From our Frankfurt office, I advise companies on all legal aspects of Information Technology.

Alongside banks and FinTechs, our clients comprise private equity firms, public-sector entities, and IT companies of all sizes. I support those in all forms of contractual design in the IT sector - for example, in the drafting, revision and negotiation of complex contracts. Likewise, I assist our clients in corporate (tech) transactions, public IT procurements and disputes due to (alleged) improper performance or licence infringements. Subject of my advice are mainly data-driven business models and products - for example, cloud, big data, artificial intelligence, platforms, apps or anything-as-a-service.

Another focus of my work is outsourcing in the financial sector. In this area, I draft and negotiate contract modules that reflect regulatory requirements for outsourcing or manage international projects to aggregate these requirements in different jurisdictions. Our clients are both outsourcing financial institutions and IT service providers.

I too advise on all matters of data protection law, mainly those related to IT.
Within our firm, I explore the use of new technologies in legal advice (Legal Tech) and engage in legal aspects of video games and the industries behind them (Gaming & Law).
Experience
  • Implementation of regulatory requirements for outsourcing in the financial sector in the contracts of an international software company (DAX-40); negotiation of the corresponding regulations vis-à-vis clients and US cloud computing providers (sub-outsourcing).
  • Advising outsourcing financial institutions on defects in large transnational outsourcing projects, e.g., termination or claiming damages due to delays or poor performance.
  • Comprehensive legal advice to an international software company in connection with serious licence infringements of a client; central coordination of affected jurisdictions.
  • Six-month secondment at a large German med-tech company to support their in-house data protection department; in particular, in the area of employee data protection and the processing of health data.
  • Several years of support for a service provider for payment transaction processing during the termination of several outsourcings in the banking sector; classic demigration as well as sale of the affected business area to successor service providers.
  • Advising on the creation of an IT concept in the insolvency of an international tourism group; among others, separation of previously jointly sourced IT infrastructure among the group companies.
  • Advising on the market launch of innovative AI solutions, e.g., in the field of medical diagnostics (IT contract law) or for a product for the automatic detection of fraudulent payments in e-commerce (data protection law).
