Edzard Boonen

I am an associate in our Intellectual Property Group in The Hague, offering an all-round IP practice, with a particular focus on trademark-, design-, and copyright related matters.

In my practice, I specialise in soft IP matters ranging from complex trademark litigation, to customs measures or seizures combating counterfeit goods, or general advise on IP-protection and regulatory topics.

My main interest lies in highly innovative and creative sectors such as Automotive and Retail & Consumer. Not only do these sectors demand deep and up-to-date knowledge of IP law, but also a strategic approach to and understanding of creativity, design, and technology.

Helping clients navigate the complex and ever-evolving landscape of enforcing IP rights with the experience that I have gained in these sectors, is what I enjoy the most.

Collaborating with my valued colleagues at Bird & Bird across our global network allows us to deliver comprehensive, cross-border strategies both in litigation and out of court, that meet the diverse needs of our clients.

• - Assisting trademark holders in enforcing their trademarks, both in litigation as well as out of court;
• - Assisting clients in enforcing their IP rights through customs measures and/or seizures;
• - Assisting clients in patent litigation, both as patentee as well as alleged infringer.
