I am a Senior Counsel in our Commercial, Privacy & Data Protection and Regulatory & Administrative Groups in The Hague.
I have more than 15 years of experience advising clients on data protection and regulatory issues in complex regulatory settings, in particular in telecommunications, media, life sciences and healthcare.
I advise our national and international clients, including start-ups, on all kinds of data protection compliance issues in complex regulatory settings.
I also assist our clients in telecoms litigation, including on matters concerning market analysis decisions, network access, spectrum allocation, net neutrality, content regulation, consumer protection, telemarketing, cookies and spam.
I have gained a lot of experience working with regulators. Not only have I assisted clients in numerous investigations and sanction proceedings, through my work as a legal expert at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets, I have also gained inside knowledge of how these watchdogs operate. I find this helps a lot in discussions with regulators.
I am a co-editor of the leading legal journal 'Computerrecht' and regularly publish articles and give presentations on various subjects in my field of expertise. I am a lecturer on telecommunications law at the Institute of Information Law (University of Amsterdam) and author of the book Public Dimensions of Private Communications ('Publieke dimensies van Privé-Communicatie') which was also the topic of my PhD.
I am an active member of various Dutch law associations, including the Association for Privacy Law (VPR), the Association for Media and Communication Law (VMC), and the Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR).
