I'm a partner in our Intellectual Property Group. Having studied physics at university, I'm fascinated by technology and the way in which it is reshaping our world.
Working at the intersection between copyright, trade secrets, contracts, regulation, and data, I support clients with the development, deployment, and commercialisation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and act for clients in disputes relating to intellectual property, data licensing and web scraping.
I am a specialist in patents disputes, where my experience has covered everything high tech from semiconductor fabrication and layout to analogue and digital electronics, flash memory, communication protocols and equipment, operating systems, software, AI, IoT and video coding. My broader patents practice covers mechanical engineering, consumer products and medical devices and I have worked with clients in a wide range of sectors, including telecommunications, consumer electronics, online business, financial services, aviation, automotive and oil & gas.
I was named one of Global Data Review's worldwide '40 under 40' upcoming data lawyers and have also been recognised by Legal 500 as providing cutting edge advice on copyright and the protection of AI generated works. I am a member of the UK Council of AIPPI and the AIPPI Standing Committee on Digital Economy. I am also the co-author of the UK chapter of Thomson Reuters' Trade Secrets Throughout the World and the author of the UK chapter of Kluwer's Law of Raw Data.
As part of my broader practice, I advise manufacturers, importers and distributors on product safety legislation and standards affecting product design, manufacture, testing, marking and labelling and environmental legislation covering the disposal of products. With experience covering UKCA/CE marking, batteries legislation, RoHS, WEEE and EMC, my main area of interest is the regulation of AI and IoT.
