I'm a senior counsel in our international Intellectual Property Group in Denmark. I have extensive experience in advising clients on international legal matters, including IP.
I specialise in international matters within IP and IT, particularly in copyright, marketing, trademarks, consumer, media and entertainment, IT and telecommunications.
I advise our clients with transactions (the drafting and negotiation of contracts) including as part hereof within the media industry (ie contracts for TV distribution, licensing, transmission and production, representing broadcasters, distributors as well as production companies). Also, I represent our clients in IP and media law disputes in areas such as clearance of rights, disputes on contracts, disputes with collection societies, disputes on copyrights, unfair marketing practices, trademarks and defamation, and concerning press ethics. I also advise on regulatory matters.
Before joining Bird & Bird, I spent a number of years practising law in the US, specialising in advising on issues involving US-Danish law. A significant part of this work involved helping Danish clients (often technology based) with US interests set up US corporate structures, taking due consideration to both commercial and tax aspects, as well as the need for adequate shielding of liability. I often helped clients draft and negotiate corporate and commercial contracts, and advised on dispute resolution, including instructing and overseeing litigation counsel retained on the client's behalf. I still draw from my experience working in the US, when advising clients facing Danish-US law issues.
