I am a strategic advisor and litigator for life science and media clients at the crossroads of IP and sector-specific regulation. Modified-risk tobacco, medicinal cannabis, online games, gambling, music and TV – this is a snapshot of my current practice.
My practice focuses on clients in the life sciences sector and in the media and communications industries – highly regulated businesses in which communication plays a crucial role. Just as the media, the life science sector between pharmaceuticals, recreational products and foodstuffs is shaped by a dense set of rules and regulations which impact both product compliance and related communication, advertising and claims.
I advise these highly-regulated life science and media businesses on unfair competition, copyright and media law, and cover sector-specific regulatory issues, including under EU and constitutional law. I assist clients with the roll-out of new media offerings, drugs and consumer products, related communication, reputation management, claims and advertising, and litigate such cases in civil and administrative courts.
In the life sciences sector, I advise and represent food and tobacco manufacturers as well as manufacturers of cannabis for medicinal and non-medicinal purposes on advertising, communication, including libel and free speech, and on regulatory issues. On the media side, I act for music businesses and collecting societies, online games publishers and TV stations on copyright, and represent gambling clients in regulatory disputes.
I lecture on Intellectual Property and Digital Media at the University of Regensburg and teach bar exam classes at the State Government of Bavaria.
