Adeena Hussain

I'm an associate in the Brand Management team within the Intellectual Property department, where I help clients to establish, maintain and enforce their brands.

I advise on the various stages within the lifecycle of a brand, including clearance searches, applications for trade mark registration, maintenance of registrations and enforcement of marks in UK and European proceedings. I have also worked on international design registrations.

My interest in the Retail & Consumer sector means I have the industry knowledge to provide clients with commercial and strategic brand advice. I also work with clients in the Media, Entertainment & Sport and Technology & Communication sectors.

• During my training contract, I spent six months on secondment with Philip Morris International, a leading international tobacco company that has committed to developing and switching smokers to smoke-free alternatives. I supported the UK general legal team on Commercial, Corporate and Employment matters. I have experience drafting complex trading agreements, reviewing consumer engagement materials, and analysing product packaging and labelling in line with UK and European regulation requirements.

• Managing interrelating and complex global contentious trade mark proceedings for a major international hotel chain.
• Dealing with UK and EU opposition proceedings and running settlement negotiations for one of the UK's largest media and editorial companies.
• Working as part of a team managing Monster Energy's trade mark work across Europe.
