International law firm Bird & Bird wins the European Corporate Team of the Year Award at The Lawyer European Awards.
Bird & Bird’s Corporate team was awarded the European Corporate Team of the Year Award at this year’s The Lawyer European Awards. The firms was also Highly Commended in the Most Innovative Technology Initiative award, and shortlisted in two other categories, including the Best ESG Initiative and the Global Firm of the Year in Europe. The awards were presented at the Hilton Bankside Hotel in London on the 29 November.
The Award was given to the multi-jurisdictional Corporate team for assisting Hy24 and Mirova in their investment of green hydrogen pioneer Hy2gen AG in partnership with CDPQ and Technip Energies. The investment is the largest private green hydrogen-focused capital raise to date. The team was commended on their use of legal tech in solving client pain-points.
The team comprised Sibylle Weiler, partner and head of the hydrogen group, partner Xavier Leroux (Corporate) and counsel Olivier Fazio (Finance) all in Paris, and partners Dr. Hans Peter Leube, LL.M. (Corporate/M&A), Dr. Marc Seeger (Corporate/M&A), Dr. Matthias Lang (Energy) and Dr. Stephan Waldheim (Antitrust), as well as counsel Dr. Christina Lorenz (Corporate/M&A) and associates Jan Medele, Felix Spindler (both Corporate/M&A), Anja Holtermann (Energy) and Tamy Tietze (Antitrust), all in Germany. George Mason (Senior Associate, Corporate) in the London office attended the ceremony and received the trophy on behalf of the team.
