As an associate in our regulatory and competition & EU team in The Hague, I advise on regulatory matters and EU law, with a specific focus on energy and environmental law, as well as on (spatial) administrative law.
Advising on regulatory matters in the Netherlands requires an in-depth knowledge on both EU law in general as well as on specific EU legislation, but also on the relevant areas of national law that are affected by it.
Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked as a lawyer at a boutique law firm in Amsterdam that specializes in energy law and transactions within the energy sector. Additionally, I also provided guest lectures on EU law at a university of applied science in law. Furthermore, I am consulted on matters regarding EU animal welfare law.
As a broadly trained lawyer with a masters in both Dutch law and EU law, I specialize in the interface between general EU law principles, specific EU regulations, and Dutch (administrative) law. Due to my educational background as veterinary assistant and focus on legal history during my studies, I developed an interdisciplinary perspective on law.
Here at Bird & Bird I provide both our clients and my colleagues with practical and concrete advice on various regulatory matters, including ESG, and matters concerning both general and spatial administrative (procedural) law. More specifically, my professional interest concerns energy and environmental law. This includes future regulatory challenges like the integration of smart technology within the energy sector (the 'internet of energy').
I feel very privileged that, as a lawyer, I can take part in facilitating energy transitions on behalf of our clients.
Furthermore, I am a member of the Dutch Energy Law Association (NeVER), The Environmental Law Association (VMR), and the Netherlands Association for European Law (NVER).
