I work across multiple sectors with organisations using data, content and technology. I have particular expertise in the exploitation of content and data in the media and sports industries. Alongside deep technical expertise, I offer clients insight on business and strategic issues, particularly for entrepreneurial, high-growth, internationalising businesses.
Data, Content & Technology: I lead the firm's cross-practice Digital Rights & Assets group, which advises clients across all sectors on the use of data, artificial intelligence (AI), tokenisation and digital identities and trust services. I advise clients internationally on arrangements relating to the use, licensing, monetisation and exploitation of data and content as well as the development, use, licensing, outsourcing and migration of complex technologies and technology services.
Broadcasting and video services: I also head the firm's broadcasting group, where alongside commercial and corporate work I advise on the UK (Ofcom Broadcasting Code, BCAP Code) and international regulation of video and broadcast services (e.g., the Audio Visual Media Services Directive).
Corporate: I also have significant experience and expertise in M&A, joint ventures and the structuring of businesses using data, content and associated technology, and the UK and international regulatory and compliance aspects of using data, content and associated technology.
My clients range from multinational media, technology and data businesses to kitchen-table start-ups, including telecoms, technology providers and innovators, broadcasters and OTT platforms, consumer brands, sports and entertainment rights holders, news and information organisations, gaming and esports companies, investors and financiers.
In 2021 I was shortlisted as one of Europe's most innovative lawyers in the Financial Times' annual awards.
