Louise Hutt

I am an associate in our Privacy and Data Protection Group in London and advise clients in a variety of sectors on UK and EU data protection and marketing rules, particularly in the financial services sector.

I advise on a wide range of data protection and privacy issues and I am particularly interested in international data transfers, FinTech and payments. I have worked on large, multi-jurisdictional privacy compliance programs and enjoy working with our international offices to support clients with their cross-border projects and initiatives.

My previous role before joining Bird & Bird was privacy counsel at a US investment bank in London and, prior to that, I worked as an IT/Commercial lawyer at a magic circle firm in London, Barcelona and Hong Kong. Having spent several years working in-house and also having been seconded to financial services and telecoms clients in the UK and abroad whilst in private practice, I have wide experience of the issues and challenges faced by in-house counsel in the data protection sphere, particularly in the financial services sector.
