Esa Airola

I am an employment lawyer working with domestic and international clients. I use my expertise in all kinds of matters that may occur in the course of the employment relations life cycle.

In my role I provide consultancy regarding contractual issues in employment. I also advise on a range of other employment law matters including collective agreements and trade union matters, co-operation procedures and transactions, immigration and employee incentives and benefits. I have also focused on litigations in employment disputes and specialise in employment issues regarding M&A and transfer of undertaking.

Over the years I have developed very useful experience from my different roles in relation to employment law. Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as a lawyer in the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland, advising union members on a broad spectrum of matters relating to employment relationships in the private and public sectors. In 2014-15 I completed court/judge training in a district court. In 2017–18 I worked for the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland, with occupational health and safety as an area of responsibility.
