Robert Milligan

I'm an associate in our Intellectual Property team in London and specialise in advising on all aspects of Brand Management and Product Design.

I'm an Editor of our international brands publication, BrandWrites, and am part of our Product Design Group.

My experience includes advising on all aspects of international brand protection and portfolio management. I work with a range of clients from start-ups to well-established international brands to assist with their global clearance and protection strategies using national, regional and international trade mark and design systems.

I specialise in advising on global rebranding, filing and trade mark oppositions and cancellation proceedings before the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices. I also provide advice in 'soft IP' matters, including domain names and company name disputes.

I also support clients with commercial aspects of IP and have experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements including co-existence agreements, assignments and domain name transfers.

As well as editing our international brands publication, I contribute regularly to legal journals on trade mark and design law.

Before joining Bird & Bird in 2015, I played professional rugby for Northampton Saints RFC and represented England at schoolboy level.
