Richard has outstanding experience of the full lifecycle of media businesses.

Richard is a partner in our Media, Entertainment and Sport Group, based in London.

Richard has deep experience of the full spectrum of commercial, regulatory and transactional matters encountered by businesses operating in and around the media space, having spent nearly two decades working with broadcasters, publishers, telecommunications companies, media technology providers, OEMs and brands across numerous jurisdictions. He has advised some of the world’s most prominent media organisations through to kitchen-table start-ups and brings passion, insight and an invaluable, highly commercial understanding of a client’s perspective having led his own team in-house.  He has a particular interest in businesses operating at the nexus of media and technology and the development of new business models, products and services distributing and monetising content using innovative technology. He regularly advises on scale, complex media rights portfolios and across genres, including entertainment, sport and news.

His expertise includes soft IP relevant to media content and technology and the regulation of media businesses - in particular the EU and UK regulatory regimes for broadcast / content distribution services.

Prior to joining us in 2016, Richard was the Group General Counsel, Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Development for Perform Group PLC.
