Since joining Bird & Bird as one of the founding partners of our Dutch office back in 2001, I've become our team leader in communications, technology and media. Today I'm Chair of our Global Tech & Comms Group and head of our international Sector Regulation and Consulting practice. I've been a member of our Global Board since 2010.

With more than 30 years' experience my practice areas cover a full range of contentious and non-contentious matters in communications, postal services, IT and media.

I've built up extensive knowledge of EU and domestic regulation and have advised and litigated on behalf of many national and multinational clients on a diversity of transactions and commercial contracts.

Over the years, as well as being a frequent conference speaker, I've written a range of nationally and internationally published works on telecommunications, postal and media law. I'm also a member of the editorial board at Mediaforum, the Dutch legal magazine covering telecoms, media and communications.

  • I'm currently leading the project for the European Commission on Net Neutrality in the 28 European Member States and continues to be involved in major projects in the sector.
  • PostNL: involved in landmark proceedings in the postal sector where Dutch regulator ACM has the authority to take
  • market analysis decisions (SMP analysis aimed to impose ex ante measures on a dominant party).
  • T-Mobile/Tele2: Representing T-Mobile and Tele2 in the ACM appeal before proceedings before the Highest Administrative Court.
