Bird & Bird advises ABB Technology Ventures on its investment into climate tech start-up Tallarna

International law firm Bird & Bird has advised ABB Technology Ventures, the venture capital arm of ABB Group, a technology leader in electrification and automation, on its investment into UK-based climate tech start-up Tallarna.

Tallarna’s AI-powered data analytics software helps customers identify successful decarbonisation investments and mitigate financial risks by identifying optimal solutions for energy efficiency projects and energy cost reductions.

The investment represents ABB’s 10th venture capital investment of the year and further strengthens its Smart Power division enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.

The Bird & Bird Team was jointly led by Nick O’Donnell (partner, Corporate) and Adam Meisels (senior associate, Corporate) with the support of Maria John (associate, Corporate) and Dean Rae (associate, Corporate), together with ABB relationship partner Fabian Niemann (partner, International Technology).

Nick O’Donnell, partner in the Corporate practice at Bird & Bird comments: “It has been a pleasure for the firm to work alongside ABB again and particularly on an investment into such an innovative start-up which aims to help accelerate Net Zero. This is a fantastic example of the excellent work carried out by our corporate venture capital practice.”
