Bird & Bird boosts its Dispute Resolution practice with the appointment of Benedikt Burger as partner

International law firm Bird & Bird appoints Dr. Benedikt Burger as a partner in the Dispute Resolution practice in Frankfurt, providing a significant boost to the firm's litigation and international arbitration capabilities.

Benedikt joins from Allen & Overy and has been involved in litigation and international arbitration for more than 19 years. He represents German investors, international companies and state-owned companies as well as individuals with an entrepreneurial background, in a variety of complex, mostly cross-border disputes. These include legal disputes in the areas of post-M&A, corporate law, joint ventures, plant engineering, (long-term) delivery contracts, sales agreements, restructuring and insolvency. He has appeared in various arbitration proceedings as a counsel in ad hoc proceedings and arbitration proceedings under the rules of leading arbitration institutes (DIS, ICC, SCC, LCIA).

Benedikt also advises clients on crisis situations and insolvency law. He often represents insolvency administrators and creditors in the enforcement of their claims and in the enforcement of arbitration judicial decisions both locally and internationally. Many of his clients come from the energy and utility industries as well as the automotive industry.

Joining with Benedikt is associate Julia Bittdorf, also from Allen and Overy.

Sven-Erik Heun, Country Head of Germany at Bird & Bird says: "One of our strategic goals is to expand and bolster the profile of our Commercial Dispute Resolution practice group. We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Benedikt Burger to our partnership, a highly experienced lawyer in this field who will complement Jiri Jaeger’s team.

Dr. Jiri Jaeger, Partner and Head of the German Dispute Resolution practice at Bird & Bird adds: "Benedikt is an excellent litigator and arbitrator, who will contribute with his extensive experience in the sector to boost the profile of our German Dispute Resolution practice and to promote the expansion of the group. I look forward to working with him. "

Benedikt says: "Bird & Bird's international network offers me the perfect platform to grow and further develop my expertise in the Dispute Resolution practice, especially in the field of international arbitration. I am very much looking forward to joining the firm and working with my new German and international colleagues."
