I initially worked as a research assistant in the IP and Commercial departments of the Hamburg office while completing my doctorate, which gave me the opportunity to support two Bird & Bird teams at once.

Right from the start, I was involved in a variety of challenging tasks in patent and trademark law as well as IT and data protection law. Despite the fact that, due to the Corona pandemic, most of my work had recently been shifted to the home office, I felt integrated into the day-to-day work and a fully-fledged member of both teams from day one, especially thanks to regular team calls and weekly virtual lunch breaks.

In addition to the exciting and varied work - also and especially beyond the country's borders - I particularly appreciate the close support from my mentors and the associated individual support and thus extraordinarily instructive collaboration. I am also very grateful that the compatibility of my doctorate and work was always supported by a particularly high degree of flexibility and understanding.

Having said all this, there was no question for me and I am very pleased that I will now remain a part of Bird & Bird as a trainee lawyer in a part-time capacity.
