Dr. Giorgina Kandalaft, LL.M.

About Me

As an associate in our Commercial Team in Düsseldorf and a member of the German and International Automotive Group, I advise domestic and international clients on contract law focusing on liability questions in particular. In this respect, I advise both in out-of-court-negotiations and settlements as well as in court proceedings.

I mainly advise clients in the automotive sector (suppliers and insurance companies) with legal issues within the supply chain and general contract law questions. My practice includes high-volume product liability and warranty cases, particularly upstream and downstream supply chain matters, including warranty cases with international customer service measures.

In addition, I draft and review complex commercial contracts as well as general purchase terms and conditions regarding cross-border contractual relations.
  • Advising a Tier-1 automotive supplier in a high volume ( > EUR 60 million) warranty case vis-à-vis a German OEM and a Tier-2 supplier on a recourse constellation due to a serial damage and world-wide OEM field actions affecting several jurisdictions.
  • Advising Tier-1 and Tier-2 automotive suppliers on warranty claims, supply chain issues as well as advising in court proceedings.
  • Draft and revision of commercial contracts and standard terms and conditions (B2B), e.g. general terms and conditions for the purchase and sale of goods and general terms and conditions for the purchase of raw materials.
  • Coordinating multi-million international warranty case affecting several jurisdictions.

  • Legal studies at University of Trier, Germany, and Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
  • Post-graduate master's studies at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA (LL.M.) on a full-tuition scholarship.
  • Legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf with positions at the Consulate General, Chicago, USA as well as at "Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit" ("GIZ") in Berlin and in the dispute resolution team of a renowned international law firm in Düsseldorf.

  • Admitted to the German bar in 2018.
