Francesca Budd

I'm an associate in our Intellectual Property Group based in London, working across contentious and non-contentious matters principally in the Technology & Communications, Life Sciences & Healthcare and Retail & Consumer sectors.

My contentious experience is broad and includes trademark, trade secrets, and contractual disputes, though I have particular expertise in patent litigation, including large-scale patent and FRAND disputes. I have been lucky enough to work with a wide range of clients, from global companies to small scale start-ups, so I understand how to tailor my advice to the client's particular circumstances and goals.

As well as contentious work, I advise on regulatory and commercial issues, which often require cross-border coordination. I find the life sciences sector particularly interesting from a regulatory perspective and enjoy advising clients on compliance in this fast-moving sector. I take a problem-oriented approach to regulatory and commercial advice, aiming to provide practical next steps in addition to legal analysis.

I have also worked in our Employment, Commercial, and Dispute Resolution teams, which has given me a strong appreciation of the breadth of expertise at Bird & Bird and our ability to work seamlessly as a team, including with colleagues across our global network.
