As a Partner in our Intellectual Property Group, I represent national and international companies in all matters of intellectual property. My particular focus lies on litigating patents and offering strategic advice for clients from the life sciences and healthcare sector, as well as in the areas of chemistry, mechanics and telecommunications.

Over the years, I have developed extensive experience with litigating patents in different forums, representing clients in various landmark cases. I advise before the UPC and before the German courts, including parallel invalidity actions (Federal Patent Court, Federal Supreme Court and European Patent Office) and compulsory license proceedings. I specifically offer advice in preliminary injunction proceedings (including cross-border scenarios, seizures and preparation of protective letters). I also have a thorough understanding of Supplementary Protection Certificates and regularly work on contractual IP matters.

My practice also covers strategic advice regarding evaluation, defence, enforcement and exploitation of IP rights and the organisation of international patent infringement litigation, where I have built up a broad and reliable network.

• Involvement in high-stakes UPC cases.
• Particular experience with second medical use patents, Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) and compulsory license proceedings.
• Analysis of intellectual property rights and development of offensive and/or defensive strategies.
• Co-ordination of international patent litigation and close cooperation with foreign counsel and experts.

• First damages request before UPC for unjustified PI for NanoString/Bruker against 10x Genomics/Harvard.
• Successful defence of generic manufacturers in major German preliminary injunction cases (e.g. Fulvestrant, Pregabalin, Ezetimibe/Simvastatin, Fampridine, Fingolimod, Dimethylfumarat, Rivaroxaban).
• Extensive international patent litigation for medical device manufacturers (e.g. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Edwards Lifesciences).
• Patent litigation regarding chip technology (Polaris v. Nvidia) and in the telecommunications sector (Nokia v. Apple).
