Alex Lazar

I am a Senior Associate in our Corporate group in Sydney. I advise clients on a range of corporate and commercial matters, most notably local and cross-border M&A transactions, public company M&A, and corporate restructures.

I focus primarily on conducting merger and acquisition transactions for foreign and local clients and have experience working on all stages of the M&A transaction lifecycle, from conducting legal due diligence to preparing transaction documents and managing deals through to completion. This work often involves cross-border elements and requires collaboration with specialists, overseas counsel and financial advisers. In addition, I have specialist experience in advising on Australian foreign direct investment laws and lead our Australian foreign direct investment advisory practice.

Outside of M&A, I have experience advising on capital markets regulation and fundraising (including IPOs) and providing general corporate law advice. I have also advised clients on various commercial and regulatory matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising on licensing and regulatory compliance, most notably in the technology, life sciences and not-for-profit sectors.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I gained professional experience working at a specialist commercial law firm in Adelaide. I previously lived in Europe and am a fluent speaker of Polish.
