I have led Bird & Bird's International HR practice in Spain since 2011. My work includes hiring and termination of ordinary employees and senior managers, providing support on the employment aspects of M&A and commercial/outsourcing deals, implementation of restructuring and redundancy plans or collective negotiations with trade unions and workers' representatives. Litigation is also an important part of my work, and I regularly represent our clients before the Spanish Courts, from the first instance up to the Supreme Court.'Put yourself in our client's shoes' is the golden rule which we strive to live by when providing advice and support. Based on this, we prefer to avoid lengthy, theoretical and complex emails to provide clear and pragmatic solutions, taking into account not only the legal aspects of a matter but also our clients' business reality and needs. Working at Bird & Bird gives me a unique chance to work on daily basis with clients and colleagues from all over the world; more than 50% of our work involves an international element. This has helped me to develop specific expertise to guide foreign clients through the complexities of the Spanish employment laws, whilst learning every day through constant contact with different jurisdictions and cultures.In the last few years I have been fortunate enough to participate in some of the most interesting cases in the employment area, such as pioneer rulings concerning the rights of top executives upon termination, or incredibly challenging restructuring cases impacting hundreds of employees.
