James is an enthusiastic commercial lawyer, with a particular focus on consumer-facing industries
James is an Associate in our Commercial group, based in London.
He advises on a range of commercial contracts, with particular experience in the retail and consumer, food and beverage, hotels and leisure, and international education sectors, and with a particular focus on franchising, licensing, distribution and other growth models and routes to market.
James' recent project experience includes assisting a number of British schools and early-years education providers to establish themselves overseas, particularly in China; working as part of a team renegotiating a major distribution agreement for a leading quick-service restaurant brand, and helping to draft and negotiate a food and beverage consultancy agreement for a luxury hotel.
Prior to joining us in 2015, James read Modern Languages at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, and spent two years working in the marketing industry.
He has written a number of articles on franchising law, including for the International Journal of Franchising Law, Franchise World and Lexology.
