Gene brings his wealth of trade mark expertise to help brand owners manage, protect and monetise their brands
Gene is Managing Counsel in our Intellectual Property Group, based in Singapore.
He has over fifteen years of IP law experience with particular focus on trade mark work, including prosecution, brand strategy, portfolio management, as well as trade mark advisory, transactional and contentious work. He has represented clients from a diverse range of industries in a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters.
Prior to joining us, Gene spent several years at leading full-service international and Singapore firms. He also gained valuable in-house experience as brand equity counsel with consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble, where he handled all trade mark related matters for a stable of well-known brands across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan and Greater China.
Gene has partnered senior practitioners and academics in authorship of various contributions to publications such as the inaugural Halsbury's Laws of Singapore, the Singapore Academy of Law Annual Review, the European Intellectual Property Review, and the seminal international treatise Famous and Well-Known Marks – An International Analysis. He is also a facilitator for the trade marks module of the Singapore Bar Examinations (Part B), and has been named as a "next generation lawyer" by the Legal 500.
Gene is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a non-practising solicitor of England and Wales.
