Philipp provides specialist advice in dispute resolution and arbitration proceedings with a particular focus on the automotive and banking sectors
Philipp is a litigation lawyer based in our Frankfurt office. He is a member of the Automotive Sector Group as well as the Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
Drawing on his longstanding experience, he advises national and international corporations - including financial institutions - in all matters of civil law. He represents a range of clients, mainly from the automotive and banking sectors, in various German courts. Philipp is also familiar with the particularities of other European legal systems. He has extensive experience in carrying out internal investigations and compliance audits, as well as handling mass actions.
Philipp studied law at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, the University of Cambridge (Gonville and Caius College), the University of Miami and studied administrative sciences at the German University for Administrative Sciences in Speyer (DHV Speyer). He obtained his doctorate (PhD) from the University of Hamburg and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (IMPRS for Maritime Affairs) dedicating his studies to jurisdictional issues of maritime disputes. Prior to joining us, Philipp worked for a renowned international law firm.
Philipp gives regular presentations on automotive liability issues (including liability risks relating to disruptive technologies such as autonomous and connected driving). Philipp has also authored several publications on the seizure protection of documents from internal investigations (“Legal Privilege” in Germany) as well as on money laundering and automotive industry standards. He is a member of the Frankfurt/Main bar and the German Arbitration Association (DIS).
