Bird & Bird launches HR Data Essentials site to help companies manage employee's personal and sensitive data

01-2020

International law firm Bird & Bird today launches its HR Data Essentials site dedicated to the crossover between Privacy & Data Protection and International HR Services.

Data privacy touches all aspects of a business, perhaps none more so than HR and employee management where those responsible will necessarily be handling and managing significant amounts of personal and sometimes fairly sensitive data.

It is increasingly important for HR, Human Capital and Talent teams to have a good understanding of privacy matters and how these impact day-to-day activities, as well as anticipating the implications of developments within the business.

As those working in this field will know, many aspects of data privacy are relevant to their daily functions, including conducting pre-employment screening, using HR management systems and storing personnel files, advising on employee management processes and responding to subject access requests amongst other common activities. To put it simply, getting it wrong can have significant consequences.

To help our clients navigate these issues, we have created the HR Data Essentials site. This site brings together key resources for HR teams in tackling key data-related issues, from country-specific analysis and comparison tools, to cross-border and regional focus pieces to help them understand HR data from every angle.

Ian Hunter, co-head of the International HR Services group says: "We are very proud of the HR Data Essentials site, which was a truly collaborative effort between our International Privacy & Data Protection and International HR Services teams. The site addresses many important issues facing HR teams today."

Ariane Mole, co-head of Privacy & Data Protection says: "HR Data Essentials is a great example of how different practice areas in Bird & Bird across multiple offices can come together to develop a meaningful solution for our clients. We look forward to sharing this great resource with them."
