The new investment reality: Why ESG matters

Bird & Bird contributes to the new report published by Inframation, in association with GHD, and ITPEnergised.

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues have been rising up the agenda for clients within infrastructure investment and financial services for some time, with COVID-19 impacting investment strategies even further. Funds no longer see ESG only through the lens of climate change and decarbonisation, they are also focused on a broad range of the social and governance aspects. Further to this, the ongoing ESG boom looks to be extending across all asset classes.

The report presents insights gathered from 50 investment funds, pension funds, investment banks, and sponsors. Demonstrating that across the board, investors are more focused on ESG than ever before.

The report analyses:

  • Challenges of ESG investing
  • The impact of COVID-19
  • The ‘S’ of ESG: how to address social issues
  • The future of investing
