New relaxed rules for Polish employers wishing to employ foreigners

Polish employers planning to employ IT specialists from Poland’s eastern border may do so more quickly thanks to the new Regulation of the Minister of Development, Labour and Technology, which came into effect on 1 December 2020.
Under the special programme introduced by the Polish government, foreigners holding a “Poland Business Harbour” visa will not be required to have a work permit. Along with the faster visa issuance procedure that is being implemented in parallel, this will significantly shorten the period between offering the job, and the actual arrival to, and commencement of work in Poland. The faster visa procedure will also apply to family members wishing to join Belarusian citizens in their relocation to Poland.
Additional solutions (administrative and information support) are being introduced for Belarusian start-ups and businesses who wish to develop their operations in Poland.
The new law removes the obligation for doctors, dentists, as well as nurses, midwives and paramedics to hold a work permit, mainly in response to counteracting crisis situations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, within the government’s programme “Solidarity with Belarus” the ban on work for Belarusian citizens who remain in Poland under a visa issued for humanitarian reasons, in the public interest, or on the basis of international obligations has been lifted, and such Belarusian citizens are now not required to hold a work permit to take up employment in Poland.
