Bird & Bird advises Urban-Air Port Ltd on its partnership with Hyundai Air Mobility to develop urban air mobility infrastructure

International law firm Bird & Bird advises Urban Air Port Limited on its partnership with Hyundai Air Mobility (a Hyundai Motor Group division) to develop urban air mobility infrastructure.

The aim of the partnership is to explore new, purpose built, multifunctional and scalable infrastructure to enable Urban Air Mobility (UAM) – urban transportation systems to move people and cargo by air. The ambitious Air-One® project will bring industry, government and the public together to demonstrate how to unlock the potential of sustainable urban air mobility to reduce congestion, cut air pollution and decarbonise transport while providing seamless passenger journeys and deliveries.

The Bird & Bird team advised Urban Air Port Limited on the collaboration with Hyundai Air Mobility and has acted for the company since its formation. The team was led by London Corporate partner James Baillieu with support from associate Greg Turton (Corporate, London), legal director Simon Gough (Tax, London) and associate James Pearson (IP, London).

Adrian Zanelli, CEO at Urban Air Port Limited says: “This collaboration will be the first step of many as we embark on bringing together world-class electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle OEMs, passenger and logistics service operators and our physical & digital infrastructure in our unique, flexible and sustainable turn-key “Air-One® ” approach. We were impressed by the team at Bird & Bird who have helped us reach this important milestone and we’re looking forward to continuing our partnership as we scale-up.

James Baillieu, Corporate partner at Bird & Bird says: "We are delighted to have worked alongside the team at Urban-Air Port on their collaboration with Hyundai Air Mobility. We have a longstanding relationship with Urban-Air Port and are looking forward to working with them as they use their cutting-edge design to build eVTOL infrastructure. I for one am really excited about seeing the first site in Coventry once it is up-and-running.
