Does access to data require a new approach in antitrust aftermarket cases?

In an era where data is the new "oil" turning the wheels of the digital economy, antitrust law may need to take a new approach in order to harness the flow of this most valuable commodity.

The issue of access to data is always sensitive, but no more so in the world of aftermarkets, in which access to data produced by a machine may be essential in order to supply spare parts or services needed to maintain expensive pieces of equipment. In a number of different sectors, traditional antitrust law is being disrupted by issues surrounding digitisation and access to data.
