Germany approved the draft law enabling ratification of the “Protocol on Privileges and Immunities of the Unified Patent Court”.

Yesterday, the German Bundestag approved the draft law 18/11238 enabling ratification of the “Protocol on Privileges and Immunities of the Unified Patent Court”. This protocol contains a number of privileges for the UPC and its staff (such as, notably, tax-exemption).

The next step for the draft national law will be its passage before the other “chamber” of German parliament, the German “Bundesrat”. Approval by that body is expected to occur on May 12, 2017.
