Work Highlights

Representing a multinational US-based global semi-conductor company in relation to the export controls classification of integrated circuits and semiconductors in the EU and subsequent export controls licensing in different EU Member States. The scope of work included also the drafting of the internal export control compliance program and submitting voluntary self-disclosures for unlicensed exports of dual-use items from different EU Member States to multiple foreign destinations, including negotiating settlements with the competent authorities of EU Member States (such as the Ministries of Foreign Affairs).

Work Highlights

Developing and implementing a significant EU outreach program in Brussels for a multinational industrial company in a trade defence case. This matter involved, inter alia, organising and attending meetings with the Cabinet of Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and preparing positions papers for top-level politicians in Brussels (members of the Council, the European Parliament and the Commission).

Work Highlights

Advising a multinational US-based global distributor of IT products and services in relation to export controls classification of IT products (i.e. determining the Export Control Classification Number – ECCN) in the EU, discussions with export control authorities of different EU Member States regarding their interpretation of the exemption for exports of "mass market" items, the legal scope of brokering services, submitting applications for export controls licences.
