Besides the EU AI Act, there is no specific national regulation of AI in The Netherlands.

The AI Regulation requires Member States to designate supervisory authorities and provide for appropriate sanctions and enforcement measures by 2 August 2025. The Minister of internal affairs has announced that the Netherlands will not be ready for appointing supervisory authorities before 2 August 2025. 

The Dutch data protection authority and the Inspection for digital infrastructures have issued a proposal for the governance of the AI regulatory sandbox in the Netherlands. The aim of this proposal is to lay a solid foundation for the further cooperation and coordination needed to launch a definitive sandbox by August 2026 at the latest.

ACM has published a position paper with regard to regulatory oversight of algorithms (available here in English).

No supervisory authorities have been appointed yet. RDI and AOP have issued a recommendation
