Our French team has created the "Bird & Bird & Diversity and CSR" endowment fund dedicated to diversity and CSR commitments.
This fund aims to develop our various actions in place in France and internationally for diversity and to support a greater number of initiatives by our teams. Some of the initiatives we’ve supported for several years include TalentsdesCités, [email protected], ViensVoirMonTaf, Droit d’accès, Club XXIe siècle, l’Autre Cercle and Urgence Identité Afrique.
The fund has a board of directors composed of Benjamine Fiedler, Djazia Tiourtite, Alexandre Vuchot and Boris Martor. It also includes an advisory committee made up of the 20+ members of the firm involved in its diversity committee, which meets on a monthly basis.
"With this fund, we want to continue and consolidate our actions in favour of equal opportunities and inclusion. All the teams of Bird & Bird strongly believe that the social responsibility of a law firm is fundamental."
Alexandre Vuchot, Managing Partner Bird & Bird France
"The launch of this fund demonstrates the desire of all Bird & Bird teams to be part of an inclusive and sustainable approach promoting equal opportunities, participation and support for shared actions in terms of diversity and protection of all members of society. We look forward to contributing further to a more diverse, just and inclusive society."
Boris Martor, Partner Bird & Bird, administrateur du fond Bird & Bird & Diversity and CSR
Based on the premise that the impact of social background on student performance is stronger in France than in any other OECD country, two journalists and a middle school teacher created ViensVoirMonTaf in November 2015 to fight against social inequalities and offer quality internships in REP (Ex-ZEP) to students in their final year of middle school.
ViensVoirMonTaf had the chance to cross the road of Djazia Tiourtite at Bird & Bird. An unfailing welcome, a communicative energy, an inexhaustible motivation.... The young people who discovered this great law firm with amazed eyes and full of questions, left, a week later, stars in their heads and....horizons cleared up!Melanie Taravant, Co-fonder ViensVoirMonTaf
The firm is also a partner of the association Droit d'accès, an association which proposes to bridge the gap between the world of lawyers, and the greater legal world, and that of the pupils of working class neighbourhoods who attend school from primary to secondary school. In this context, Bird & Bird sponsors a class of 9th grade pupils from the De Geyter secondary school in Saint Denis by running legal workshops and welcoming the pupils to its premises for the compulsory work experience module and a mock trial organised at the end of the school year.
