Dark Patterns, Data Protection and Design Webinar

In this webinar, we take a deeper dive into the concept of ‘dark patterns’. In simple terms, dark patterns are intentional design choices meant to manipulate users to do something (e.g. give their consent) or prevent them from taking actions (e.g. opting out or exercising their rights).

In its recent draft guidelines on ‘Dark patterns in social media platform interfaces’, the EDPB has indicated that these techniques or design choices can violate European privacy rules. Moreover, new EU upcoming legislation such as the Data Services Act (DSA) makes explicit references to dark patterns.

This webinar takes a deep dive into what dark patterns are and their challenges. We do this by looking at guidelines and legislation, but also by looking how to implement legal obligations in practice thanks to Marie Potel’s perspective (founder & CEO of the leading legal design agency Amurabi).
