Acknoledgements - 7 days.
Responses - 3 months after acknowledging receipt. 

Belgium

Yes, same as in the Directive, i.e., 7 days from report for acknowledgment of receipt, and max. 3 months from acknowledgment of receipt for response.

Czech Republic

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

Yes.

• 14 days to acknowledge the report (as of the day the reporting person requested it);
• 7 days to acknowledge the receipt of the report;
• 30 days to respond to the reporting person (can be prolonged twice).

Denmark

Estonia

Yes.

Finland

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

Yes, an acknowledgement of receipt must be sent to the whistleblower within seven days of receiving the report and the follow-up measures based on the report must be communicated to the whistleblower within three months following the acknowledgement of receipt.

France

Germany

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

For internal reporting, acknowledgement of receipt must be confirmed within 7 days and the individual musz receive a response within 3 months following confirmation of receipt (or a total of 3 months and 7 days in case receipt was not confirmed)

For external reporting, acknowledgement of receipt is required without delay, at the latest within 7 days and the individual must receive a response within a period of 3 months, that can be extended to 6 months for complex cases.

Hungary 

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

Yes. Within seven days of receipt of the written report, the operator of the whistleblowing system should send an acknowledgement of the report to the whistleblower. The confirmation shall include general information on the procedural and privacy rules. The report shall be investigated within the shortest time possible under the circumstances, but not later than thirty days from the date of receipt of the report. The deadline may be extended in particularly justified cases, provided that the whistleblower is informed at the same time. The whistleblower shall in that case be informed of the expected date of the investigation and the reasons for the extension. However, the investigation shall not exceed three months.

Ireland

Yes. There should be an acknowledgement in writing of the receipt of a report within 7 days. The reporting person must be provided with feedback within three months of the date on which the report was acknowledged in writing (or within three months and 7 days if it was not acknowledged in writing).

If the reporting person then requests in writing, they must be provided with further feedback at three-month intervals, until the report is closed, dating from the period on which the first set of feedback is provided after the initial report.

Italy

Yes:
i) within seven days from the receipt of the report, the Whistleblower shall receive by the competent internal body the acknowledgement of receipt of the report;
ii) within three months from the above term, the designated person or department shall follow-up the report and provide a feedback to the Whistleblower.

Netherlands

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

Yes, the Reporting Person must receive an acknowledgement of receipt, within seven days of receipt of the report. Ultimately within three (3) months after sending this acknowledgement of receipt, the Reporting Person must be informed on the assessment of the report and, if applicable, any follow-up actions related thereto.

Slovakia

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

The newly amended Whistleblowing Act sets the following time frames:
Internal assessment of the report and informing the whistleblower on the outcome of the assesment of the report within 90 days from receipt of the report.

In the case, when there is a suspicion that the crime was committed, the employer must refer the matter to the police or public prosecutor and inform the whisteblower on this fact. As soon as the employer obtains the result of the assesment from the police or the public prosecutor, whether there was a crime commited or not, he has to inThe newly amended Whistleblowing Act sets the following time frames:

In the case, when there is a suspicion that the crime was committed, the employer must refer the matter to the police or public prosecutor and inform the whisteblower on this fact. As soon as the employer obtains the result of the assesment from the police or the public prosecutor, whether there was a crime commited or not, he has to inform the whistleblower on the result of such assesment no later than 10 days after receiving this assesment from the police or the public prosecutor.

Under the newly adopted Whistleblowing Act there is also specific timescale with regard to the acknowledgements of the receipt of the report - 7 days from receipt.

Spain

Are there any specific timescales that apply (e.g. for acknowledgements and responses) (Yes/No)?

(i) Sending acknowledgement of receipt of the communication to the informant, must be carried out within 7 calendar days of receipt, unless this could jeopardize the confidentiality of the communication.
(ii) Investigation may not exceed 3 months from receipt of the communication or, if no acknowledgment of receipt was sent to the informant, 3 months from the expiration of the seven-day period following the communication, except in cases of particular complexity requiring an extension of the period, in which case, this may be extended for a maximum of three additional months

Sweden

Yes, the Reporter shall be given confirmation (that the Report has been received) within 7 days (unless the Reporter has asked not to be contacted).

United Kingdom
