Wei Xu

I am an associate in Bird & Bird's Intellectual Property Group based in our Beijing office.

My main practice areas focus on contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including patent civil litigation, administrative litigation, invalidation proceedings and licensing negotiations in different jurisdictions.

I have both solid technical and legal backgrounds, and especially seasoned at handling IP dispute resolution related to complex technologies such as wireless communications, audio and video and storage technologies. In the standard essential patent (SEP) field, I have rich experience in representing patent holders to enforce patent right in China and negotiate patent license and acquisition. I have extensive experience in litigating cases before different levels of courts and patent office in China, including the Supreme People's Court of China, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou IP Courts.

I am the author of 14 technical papers in prestigious IEEE and IET journals and conferences and the co-inventor of 6 granted Chinese patents.
