Siyang Song

I am an associate in our Corporate Group in Beijing, China, focusing on outbound M&A, equity investment and financing projects.

In addition to conducting due diligence exercise, advising on transaction structure, drafting and negotiating contracts for cross-border transactions, I regularly advise Chinese clients and foreign companies on corporate, commercial and compliance matters.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked as an associate at the Beijing Office of a large international law firm, where I was responsible for client management and local counsel management while taking a role of lead associate in due diligence exercise, transaction document negotiation and drafting, investment structure advice and other aspects of transactions.

• Represented a subsidiary of a large SOE in the energy sector on its proposed acquisition of 100% shares in a UK-based developer, owner and operator of power generation facilities;
• Represented a subsidiary of an SOE on its proposed acquisition of majority shares in a French company in the semiconductor industry;
• Representing a central SOE on its reorganization of shares and assets in one of the Central Asian countries;
• Represented a Chinese state-owned power grid company on its multi-billion USD bid for the investment, design, construction and operation of the first sub-sea high voltage direct current transmission cable system in the Middle East.
