Riikka Aarikka

I am a counsel in our Competition & EU Law Group based in Helsinki. My expertise lies especially within public procurement and contractual matters.

I assist our domestic and international clients, with an emphasis on public procurement issues. In addition, I focus on assignments relating to various contract and business law related matters.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2018, I worked in the public sector for several years, where I dealt with ICT procurement related legal issues. I also have several years of work experience from a Finnish listed ICT company, where I held a versatile in-house legal counsel role.

Besides matters relating to public procurement I also have significant amount of experience in contractual issues. I am highly business-minded and feel that understanding the big picture is a key to advising clients in their legal matters. As a part of my work at Bird & Bird I have been on a secondment at a large global ICT company as well as at a major logistics company where I have been able to make most of my comprehensive outlook on issues based on my previous broad experiences.

Throughout my 15+ years' professional career I have dealt with issues relating to wide range of industries and am happy to work with clients from different industries.
