I am a partner in our Intellectual Property Group in The Hague. With a technical background in aerospace engineering, I specialise in complex patent and trade secret litigation before the Dutch courts and the Unified Patent Court.
Learning about new technology and the client's business that surrounds it is what drives my work.
My particular focus lies in telecom, semiconductor and electronics cases, in which I have litigated technologies such as semiconductor interconnects, signal processing, spectrum management for DSL lines, video coding and radio amplifier design as well as the 3G (UMTS), 4G (LTE) and 5G (NR) standards. My technical background is particularly helpful for litigating technologies like these, but I also frequently litigate in areas such as life sciences/pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. I have handled cases ranging from asthma and MS medication to offshore pipe-laying installations and rare earth oxides used to produce automotive catalysts.
In each case, I bring a detailed understanding of the technology involved, which allows for a clear presentation of the issues and arguments to the court. I strive to think outside the box and develop new strategies and solutions tailored to the clients' needs in each case.
New developments provide opportunities for further growth and increased efficiency in our overall work, and I have been involved in preparing our firm in the Netherlands for the Unified Patent Court and the digitalisation of the court docket system. I continue to look out for new opportunities and changes in improving the way we work.
