Maria Moreno de la Santa

I am an associate in Bird & Bird's Regulatory & Administrative department in the Madrid office.

I give advice on public and regulatory matters, mainly in the industrial, administrative and energy sectors.

I have experience in advising Spanish and multinational companies on all branches of Public Law, where I have progressively specialized in various sectors of activity, mainly in the industrial, administrative and energy sectors.

In this field, my main activity focuses on giving advice on regulatory matters for leading industrial and energy companies in their consultations on the regulatory framework, and in the review of permits, licenses, and authorizations in Due Diligence processes.

In addition, I advise on administrative proceedings, including sanctioning, expropriator and contentious-administrative proceedings. I also regularly advise both public and private entities in the field of public procurement in all its stages (drafting of specifications, tendering, execution, termination and liquidation), as well as challenges before the Administrative Courts for contractual appeals and before national Courts.

I also have experience in Environmental Law, especially in matters related to sustainability, waste production and management, extended producer responsibility and circular economy, as well as in Competition Law.

Prior to joining our firm, I developed my career in one of the main international law firms present in Spain as well as prepared the examinations for the General State Technicians Corps.
