Laura Grijpma

As a Senior Counsel in our Dispute Resolution practice, and a member of our Tech & Comms and Insurance groups in The Hague, I specialise in commercial litigation, focusing on issues in telecomms, IT and insurance.

I have a wide range of litigation experience in cases concerning infrastructure, including telecomms and energy, as well as in IT disputes, product liability cases, disputes relating to agent and distribution agreements, and insurance.

In the insurance field, I have acted on large and complex coverage disputes including cases concerning professional indemnity policies, machinery breakdown policies and business interruption policies.

Besides civil court proceedings, I have also acted in arbitration proceedings before the Dutch arbitral tribunal for automation disputes, the Stichting Geschillenoplossing Automatisering, in several IT-related disputes.

• Advised a consortium of construction companies in their coverage dispute with the PI-insurers. As English law applies, we are working closely with our Insurance team in London on this case.
• Represented a well-known telecomm provider in proceedings against an international trucking company regarding the performance of a minimum commitment clause. All claims were awarded by the court, in favour of my client.
• Represented a large software developing company in its dispute with an unsatisfied customer. All claims of the customer were rejected, which judgment was later on upheld by the court of appeal.
• Represented several telecomm providers in civil tariff disputes.
