Georgina Straughan

As an associate in our London Intellectual Property Group, I have experience across a broad range of intellectual property matters, with a particular interest in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector.

During my time at Bird & Bird I have been involved in contentious and transactional IP matters in patents, trade marks, designs and copyright.

Having studied Natural Sciences (Biochemistry) at university, I particularly enjoy the technical nature of IP and using my scientific background to better understand and advise on the issues facing our clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

I have acted for international pharmaceutical companies in multi-jurisdictional patent and trade mark disputes, and have worked alongside colleagues from our European offices on EU-wide patent enforcement projects. I have also undertaken a virtual secondment to a pharmaceutical company, providing legal assistance on a variety of IP licensing and transactional matters.

In addition to life sciences, I have advised clients across a range of sectors including Media, Entertainment & Sport and Technology & Communications. I also enjoy being an editor of our international brands publication, BrandWrites.
