Florentine Sneij

I am a senior associate at Bird & Bird in Brussels and I advise companies on matters related to trade defence, customs and export control rules.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I worked at a Big Four consultancy firm and in the trade compliance department of a life sciences company. My experience in the consultancy and life sciences sectors has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the rules and challenges companies face regarding compliance practices. Currently, I specialise in trade defence procedures, customs rules and regulations and export control rules.

I was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2016, and I hold an LL.M. in Public International Law and Trade Law from the Graduate Institute of Geneva, as well as a law degree from KU Leuven in Belgium.

• Responsible for Benelux and France within the trade compliance department of a life sciences company, where I was in charge of ensuring compliance with customs and trade rules and regulations.
• Assisted companies in their supply chain management by providing legal assistance in customs (classification, valuation and origin).
• Prepared a 100-page study on export controls for the Flemish Parliament.
• Acted for an international logistics company in their compliance check of the EU regulatory framework.
• Assisted clients in several EU trade defence proceedings (anti-dumping, anti-circumvention and safeguards) across a wide range of industries, among which were the ceramic and steel industries.
