Chloë Verschoor

I am an associate in our Data Protection and Regulatory Groups and a member of our tech & comms team in The Hague, where I am involved in the full range of matters in data protection and privacy, particularly in the IT sector.

I work with our clients in IT contracting and online services, but also other sectors such as food and telecommunications. During my time at Bird & Bird I was seconded for six months to an international telecommunications client and two months to an international pharmaceutical client, both regarding data protection matters.

To me, an effective client relationship starts with communication: understanding their business needs and speaking the same language. Being a lawyer is not merely about providing legal advice but being able to fit such advice within all realities surrounding it.

Additional to my role as an attorney I have helped develop our The Hague corporate social responsibility activities.

Before joining the team at Bird & Bird, I worked as an associate in the corporate IT and regulatory data protection practices of a leading law firm in Amsterdam. I was also engaged in a project providing legal aid to start-ups. Before becoming an attorney, I worked for an information security organisation, where I co-ordinated a data protection and security awareness campaign for Dutch universities and higher education institutions.

I am a member of the Dutch Privacy Law Association (VPR) and the Dutch Association for Information Technology & Law (NVvIR).

• I've assisted in various (internationally orientated) data protection awareness and GDPR implementation projects for clients in various sectors such as food, healthcare, telecommunications and advertising.
