Moritz advises clients in Intellectual Property matters with a focus on Patent matters
Moritz is a Patent Attorney admitted to the bar of German Patent Attorneys since July 2013. He is part of the IP practice group in the firm’s Hamburg office.
Moritz advises national and international clients in matters concerning the application, defence and enforcement of Patents and Utility Models, as well as in matters concerning their validity. He focusses on Patent Applications, Patent Oppositions, as well as proceedings concerning the Infringement and Nullity of Patents. Further, he analyses Patents and Utility Models and provides his Opinion with regard to their infringement and validity. His technical expertise ranges from Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Machine Tools and Automotive Engineering to Medical Devices and Materials.
Before joining Bird & Bird in 2016, Moritz worked three years as an Associate in a renowned Hamburg Patent Law Firm that he had first joined in 2010 as a trainee. During his traineeship he gained experience at the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court, and the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf.
Prior to his work in the IP sector, Moritz studied Aerospace Engineering at the Bundeswehr University in Munich and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2005 to 2009. Afterwards, he worked as an aircraft engineer in an aircraft maintenance facility.
Moritz is a member in the Association of German Patent Attorneys, FICPI and GRUR. He speaks German and English.
